Big Second Half Propels Reivers past Golden Eagles

Cheyenne, WY – The Golden Eagles men's soccer team lost its fourth consecutive game Sunday afternoon at LCCC Soccer field with a 6-1 defeat to #3 Iowa Western Community College.

Iowa Western jumped out early with a goal in the 6th minute as Sabino Lozono took a shot and it deflected off a Golden Eagle and into the net. The Golden Eagles (0-4) has a chance to tie things but Aaron Barber was denied on a penalty kick in the 30th minute. Four minutes later the Reivers got their second after a free was sent in and a Golden Eagles defender headed it into his own net. Shortly after the Golden Eagles were down a man as they had received a red card. The score at the half was 2-0.

The Reivers would score four goals in the second half. The Golden Eagles lone goal came from freshman Dalton Young in the 85th minute on a pass from Jaime Soto.

The Reivers outshot the Golden Eagles 27-6 and 15-3 on shots on goal. Goalkeeper Angel Alvarez made eight saves for LCCC. The Reivers led 4-0 in corner kicks.

Laramie County will return to action on Friday September 8, when they travel to Northwest Kansas Technical College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 P.M on Friday.
