Men’s Basketball Appelgren Signs with Wofford

CHEYENNE, WY – The Wofford College men's basketball team announced a signing from Laramie County Community College for its 2019 class on Monday, as David Appelgren committed to the Terriers.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Appelgren stands at 7'1 and played the center position for the Golden Eagles. Appelgren averaged 9.3 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 3.6 blocks per game. He shot 48.7 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three-point line and 72.5 percent from the free throw line.

He had a career-high 27 points against Central Wyoming College on January 16th and recorded three double-doubles on the year. Appelgren was second in the country with 3.6 blocks per game.

"We are really excited for David, it is a great situation for him to join a program that was in the NCAA Tournament this past season," said head coach Jason Ficca. "He is a great student athlete and has a lot of potential that has been untapped, so his game is only going to continue to grow."

The Terriers finished the season 30-5 this past season, capturing the Southern Conference Tournament Championship and reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Terriers knocked off Seton Hall University in the first round and nearly knocked off the University of Kentucky in the second round.
