Golden Eagles Fall to CWC in First Round

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team (12-19) did not shoot like they did a week ago in Riverton as they fell 77-56 against Central Wyoming College (11-19) in the first round of the Region IX Tournament. With the loss, the Golden Eagles season comes to an end.

The Rustlers were able to take a 40-32 lead into halftime, but the Golden Eagles stormed back early in the second half and cut the CWC lead down to four. CWC then used a 9-0 run to push the lead back to double digits.

Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) led the Golden Eagles with 14 points, and he also added six rebounds in the loss. Zovko has scored in double figures 21 times this season. Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) added 12 points on 3-6 shooting from the field and 1-3 from deep. Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) scored 11 points. Daequan Spragion (Brooklyn, New York) led them in rebounds with seven and assists with three. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) had a game-high four blocks in the game. Spragion and Kamrin Vincel (Henderson, Colorado) finished with six points.
