Golden Eagles Back On Track With 106-73 Victory Over Central Wyoming

RIVERTON – Freshman Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) tallied 25 points to lead Laramie County Community College to a 106-73 blowout victory over Central Wyoming College Saturday afternoon at the Rustler Gym.

Laramie County (12-18, 5-9 Region IX North) put the game away in the first half as it blasted Central Wyoming (10-19, 5-9) 46-33 by the break. The Golden Eagles would go on to outscore the Rusters by 20 points in the second half and coast to the victory, snapping a four-game losing streak. They finished a tie for the fourth in the Region IX North and lost the tie-breaker to CWC and will enter the Region IX Tournament as the #5 seed from the North.

Potoma was 8-of-11 from the floor and 7-for-10 from the three-point line to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) followed with 19 points. Daequan Spragion (Brooklyn, New York) had 17 points and six assists. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) and Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) chipped in with 15 points each. Appelgren also pulled down six rebounds. Hayden Collier (Rangiora, New Zealand) added 11 points off the bench.

LCCC shot 60 percent from the field, 69 percent from the three-point line knocking down a season-high 20 three-pointers and shooting 93.3 percent from the free throw line.

Laramie County will be back in action Saturday when it travels back to Central Wyoming College in Riverton for the first round of the Region IX Tournament. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Rustler Gym in Riverton.
