Golden Eagles Men’s Basketball Picks up Win against Northwest College 86-85

Powell, WY – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team picked up a win on the road to close out the month of January against Northwest College 86-85 in OT. LCCC is currently 10-13 on the season and 3-4 in the Region IX North.

The Golden Eagles trailed the entire first half and majority of the second half and didn't have their first lead of the game till a little over four minutes to go in the game on a three-pointer from Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada). Potoma hit a three-pointer late in closing seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. LCCC were led by Potoma with 22 points. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) was close to recording a double-double on the night with 14 points and nine rebounds. Potoma also led the team with four assists for their total of 11.

LCCC had three other players who scored double-digits as Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) had 15 points, Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) added 13 points and Stephane Manzi (Nyamirambo, Rwanda) had 11 points. Manzi and Dean also had six rebounds apiece. Trappers were led by Lagio Grantsaan with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Two other Trappers scored in double figures as Brian Howell had 17 points and Reme Torbert added 12.

The Golden Eagles shot 49.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three on the game but 55 percent from the free-throw line going 11-for-20 attempts.

The Golden Eagles will be back on the court Saturday when they face #12 Casper College at the RAC at 4 p.m.
