#6 Casper Tops Golden Eagles

CASPER – After a slow finish to the end of the first half, the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (8-10, 1-1) flustered the #6 Casper College Thunderbirds (17-1, 2-0) in the second half. The comeback was tough after falling behind 13 at the half as Casper College defeated the Golden Eagles 110-96 Saturday afternoon at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym.

The Golden Eagles looked to pick up right where they left off Thursday night in their win over Northwest College but Casper caught fire and couldn't miss from the floor. Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) led the way with 37 points, while Stephane Manzi (Nyamirambo, Rwanda) added 27 points and Cortney Dean had 13 points. Manzi pulled down a team-high six rebounds and three steals. The Golden Eagles forced Casper into 17 turnovers and only committed 14.

The Thunderbirds were strong from the field going 43-of-74 for 58.1 percent and 19-of-23 from the free throw line. The Golden Eagles hit 49.2 percent of their shot (32-of-65), 13-of-27 from deep (48.1 percent) in defeat.

Laramie County will host Central Wyoming College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
