Golden Eagles Bounce Back In Win Over P2P

CHEYENNE – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team picked up their sixth win with a 89-78 victory over Power 2 Play Elite Friday.

Laramie County improved to 6-9 on the year as they head into the holiday break.

Four players scored in double figures for the Golden Eagles, who had their third highest scoring outing of the season.

Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) had a thunderous dunk in the second half to jump start the Golden Eagles and give them a double-digit lead. Three minutes into the second half and LCCC had a 52-37 lead. Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) drained a couple of 3-pointers as Laramie County took a 68-52 lead with 10:40 to go. P2P stuck around and trimmed the lead down to 10 with 6:37 left. That is as close as they would get down the stretch.

The Golden Eagles were 34-of-73 from the floor and 8-of-28 from long distance. Power 2 Play was 29-of-78 from the field and 10-of-34 from beyond the arc. LCCC was 13-of-17 from the free throw line, while P2P were 10-of-16.

Potoma led the Golden Eagles with 22 points and eight assists. Stephane Manzi (Nyamirambo, Rwanda) scored a season-high 17 points. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. He also had a game-high five blocks. Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) had 14 points.

Torrey Udall scored 16 for Power 2 Play. Jordan Harris had 15 and former Golden Eagle Kaipo Sabas had seven.

Laramie County will host Western Nebraska Community College at 6 p.m. Monday January 7th in the RAC.
