Golden Eagles Fall On The Road

SCOTTSBLUFF – Laramie County Community College men's basketball suffered a loss on the road, falling to #14 Western Nebraska Community College 101-76, Tuesday night in the Cougar Palace.

The Golden Eagles (5-9) shot 40.3 percent from the field but only 25 percent from three-point range. The Cougars (12-2) hit 52.1 percent of their field goals and 56 percent from long distance.

LCCC was paced by Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) with 23 points and Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) 16. Dru Kuxhausen had 26 and Jervay Green 17 for WNCC.

The Golden Eagles were down by as many as 13 in the first half, but went on a 14-0 run to regain the lead right before the half. Two three-pointers from Potoma helped the run. WNCC scored right at the buzzer to take a 45-44 lead at half.

Western Nebraska used a 14-2 run in the middle of the second half to pull away from the Golden Eagles. On top of the 23 points for Potoma he also dished out six assists and had three steals. Stephane Manzi (Nyamirambo, Rwanda) had eight points and led the team in rebounds with eight. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) had eight points and a game-high four blocks.

The Golden Eagles were 6 of 24 from three-point range. The Cougars went 14 of 25.

LCCC will host Power 2 Play Elite at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
