CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team forced the Trojans into 16 turnovers, but it was Trinidad State Junior College that got a 92-81 win over the Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

Laramie County dropped to 16-12 overall and 8-6 in the Region IX South. The Trojans are now 20-6 overall and 9-5 in the Region IX South.

Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals to lead the Golden Eagles in the losing effort. Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) added 18 points, Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) had 17 points and Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) chipped in with 12 points.

Wyche and Mateen each led with three assists. Kyle Wright (West Orange, New Jersey) recorded three blocks.

Trinidad State led 37-35 at the half after Mateen hit a shot right before the half to cut the lead down to two.

In the second half, Laramie County was right there with TSJC but couldn't mount the comeback in the end.

Tykeem Anderson had a game-high 21 points for the Trojans and Ian Kelly added 14 in the win.

LCCC shot 38.6 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from the 3-point line. The Golden Eagles are a team that makes over 11 three-pointers a game in Region IX play and were held to just eight in the game.

Laramie County returns to court on Wednesday as they travel to Lamar Community College for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
