Men’s Basketball Capture Home Win Against Eastern Wyoming

CHEYENNE – Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) scored 23 points and Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) added 19, as Laramie County Community College men's basketball hammered Eastern Wyoming College, 93-66, in a Region IX South men's basketball game played Wednesday at the RAC.

The Golden Eagles improve 15-11 overall and move to 7-5 in Region IX South play. The Lancers are now 2-21 overall and 0-11 in Region IX South.

Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) finished with 18 points, six assists and five steals for the Golden Eagles, who were led on the boards by Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming), who had 10 rebounds and added 15 points.

Brandon Meadows hit 7-of-10 shots from the foul line and had 15 points to lead Eastern Wyoming in scoring. Jonathan Morrobel finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lancers shot 37.7 percent (26-for-69) in the game and the Golden Eagles forced the Lancers into 21 turnovers.

LCCC, which led 47-30 at halftime, pushed that lead into 20's five minutes into the second half. Laramie County would then knock down two of their 14 three-pointers to push the lead to 26. As a team, LCCC shot 45.9 percent (34-for-74) from the field, 46.7 percent from the perimeter (14-for-30) but struggled from the line shooting 47.8 percent (11-for-23).

Laramie County will host Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday at 4 p.m. Tickets to all Laramie County basketball games are $5 adults, #3 students, $2 seniors and military and free to all LCCC students, staff and faculty with valid LCCC ID.
