Taliaferro Drops 37 for LCCC Men’s Basketball in Home Win

 CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) was feeling it tonight for the Golden Eagles and finished with a game-high 37 points in a 93-82 victory over Northeastern Junior College on Thursday evening at home.

Laramie County (8-5, 2-1) improves to 2-1 in Region IX South. Both teams couldn't get separation early as they swapped some lead changes. LCCC would get going in the four minutes of the half knocking down some 3-point baskets. Taliaferro hit five 3-pointers in the first half and led all scorers in the first half with 15 points.

Laramie County led 38-33 at the half shooting 45.2 percent from the field. They were 50 percent from the 3-point line and 50 percent from the foul line.

Northeastern battled back in the second with a 14-6 run and regained the lead with 12:25 left to play. LCCC would answer a 14-4 run to lead 68-60 with 9:08 remaining. The Golden Eagles pushed the lead to as high as 18 in the second half.

Taliaferro finished with 37 points and was 10-of-12 from the 3-point line. His 10 three-pointers tie a school record. Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) had 21 points, Solomon Iluyomade (London, England) added 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) chipped in with 11 points and nine assists.

Laramie County shot 55 percent from the field, 61.5 percent from the 3-point line and 64.7 percent from the free throw line.

Northeastern was led by Marcus Burwell with 28 points, teammate Jazz Parker added 13 and Ibrahim Dodo recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points.
