Golden Eagles Clinch Regular Season Title with Win against NJC

Cheyenne, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team hosted Northeastern Junior College on Wednesday at the RAC. The Golden Eagles won by a score of 107-70, improving to 20-9 overall on the year and 12-3 in South Sub-Region play.

LCCC had the lead 61-29 at the break, as they jumped out to a 15 point lead midway through the first half. The Golden Eagles didn't slow down in the second half as they continued to attack the basket.

Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) led the Golden Eagles with 27 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, knocking down six shots from behind the arc and three free-throws. Oliver had 19 of his 27 in the first half. Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) added 21 points, while Ola Ayodele (London, England) and Dominik Heinzl (Uzov, Czech Republic) had 16 and 15 points respectively. Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) dropped a season high 15 assists.

LCCC shot lights out in the first half going 24-of-34 from the field for 70.6 percent. They knocked down eight three-pointers in the half as Oliver had five and Taliaferro had the other three. As a team the Golden Eagles shot 63.5 percent from the field (40-of-63), 56 percent from the three-point line (14-of-25) and 68.4 percent from the foul line (13-of-19). The Golden Eagles had a season-high 37 assists.

The Golden Eagles will host Lamar Community College in the South Sub-Region regular season finale match-up at the RAC on Saturday Feb. 25. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m., following the women's game.
